This is Maggie our Rough Coat Chihuahua eating a raw chicken wing, bones and all. It does not take her long to finish her meal and then she cleans up after our Minpin Buddy who takes a little longer. We feed them a BARF diet approx 6 months of the year. It really cleans up the plaque on their teeth. They like the diet and really look forward to dinner. In the morning they get a small portion of kibble for breakfast. The bones disintegrate during digestion and their droppings have a white chalk look. Monitor the dogs weight and adjust portion size if they start to gain. Our Chihuahua put on two pounds (a lot for her normal size 7 lbs). We reduced portion size with no treats and it took six months to get here back to normal weight. My suggestion is monitor early to aviod this potential problem.
