Kibble, Watch before you buy.

Description

Is Kibble Making Your Dog Fat? Most puppy parents think they’re making good choices by feeding their dogs the brand name kibble they see on TV. But the truth is, commercial kibble contains overwhelming amounts of one the worst ingredients for your dog’s health: Starch.

Starch is empty carbs that turn into sugary glucose inside your dog’s body. And too much glucose not only packs on the extra pounds but it can also alter brain function and lead to diabetes or even cancer.

So, if studies continue to show the negative effects of empty carbohydrates on our dogs, why is starch still used so heavily when making kibble? Because in order to keep its shape, kibble relies on starch to be a binder because, without it, you’d be buying a bag of over-heated crumbly powder.

Without starch, they wouldn’t have a product to sell you so kibble companies use corn, rice and wheat starch with a recent push towards veggie starches like potatoes, peas or tapioca or other fillers… under the idea that grains and veggies are healthy….

But the problem with that is… even though these binders come from natural grain or veggie sources that may be healthy for humans, they’re still starches… AND guess what… your dog’s stomach wasn’t built to digest grains or be a vegetarian.

Dogs are biologically made to operate on predominantly meat-based protein so ultimately any kind of empty carb converts into glucose-sugar and violates ancestral diet guidelines for K9s.

No matter how they market it, high starch kibble puts your pup at risk of all this… Not worth it if you ask us.

So what are your options?

The best thing you can do is “remember the wolf” and switch your pup’s food to a fresh raw meat and whole food diet.
